The Government has just launched a new boost to the bike : “an academy of bicycle trades”. The Minister for Ecological and Inclusive Transition has effectively announced the creation of a sector to train more repair mechanics.
The objective is to encourage cycling during the deconfinement phase. Mechanics will be trained to meet the growing demand for repairs.
Here is everything you need to know about this government assistance.

Promote urban cycling

According to Elisabeth Borne: “The creation of this training sector will make it possible in particular to support the training of 250 bicycle mechanics in the coming months, then 500 mechanics per year”.
The Government's objective can be reached quickly because there will be more cyclists than motorists in the big cities of France. And the more cyclists there are, the more repair mechanics there are, the more bicycles there are in good condition. In other words, social distancing and non-gathering measures will be respected. Fewer people will use public transport and the fight against the spread of the coronavirus will be maintained, even if people leave their homes.

How does the training take place?

It should be noted that this academy of bicycle trades is supported by the FUB (French Federation of Bicycle Users) and is supported to the tune of 8 million euros via the energy savings certificates (EEC) system over a period of 2 years.
It takes the form of the development of technical guides, a website and training materials and aims to train all types of cycling professionals. According to the instructions, the training lasts only 20 days and it is based on the INCM or National Institute of Cycle and Motorcycle which is an organization specialized in the field of training for two-wheeler trades.

A little reminder about the “Bike boost”

The Government has launched an aid offering the payment of 50 euros to repair his bicycle.
All costs related to the repair of a two-wheeler are therefore covered by this aid, whether it is the cost of repairing or changing the brakes, tires, lights or chain. All you have to do is go to the official platform to consult the list of all authorized repairers.
