Cycle paths, all projects by city

Spread over 155 territories, cycling development for the various cities of France continues to continue for positive and impacting results since 2020 to date.

Many regions and departments have been able to benefit from the fund dedicated to the development of cycle paths across the country thanks to projects aimed at promoting the use of bicycles on a daily basis. Since the launch of the project, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has been able to benefit from a subsidy from the State to the tune of 40,7 million euros.

Grants to facilitate the transition to a car-free city

The project to make bike one of the main means of transport in France was born from the will of politicians, technicians, communities and citizens since 2018. It is certainly for this reason that the State has blocked 350 million euros over seven years for the creation of an “Active Mobility Fund” aimed at subsidizing projects in each region. For this year, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region will benefit from this aid for the construction and development of footbridges, cycle path routes and greenways in the various towns. In total, the development carried out throughout the region extends over more than 243 kilometers of cycle paths.

In addition to the state subsidy, the region also benefited from an envelope of 12 million euros for a regional call for projects. This aid consists in fact of promoting the construction and development of new cycle paths but also of parking spaces dedicated to bicycles.

Thanks to these aids and subsidies, the large cities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region adhere to the policy of car-free cities. This aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in large cities, while promoting the use of bicycles as an alternative to diesel cars.
