The FUB, an event on bicycle mobility not to be missed
The FUB, French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB) is a congress that deals with mobility at bike which will take place in Rennes from March 9 to 10, 2023. The theme of this edition was “The bicycle, essential in the after all-car”.
This event brings together mobility and cycling promotion players from all over France. Participants attend conferences, workshops and presentations on different topics related to cycling mobility, such as cycling urban planning, local cycling policies, security road and communication around the bike.
The congress is also an opportunity to submit the results of the “Barometer of cycling cities” survey, which assesses the quality of cycling facilities and the perception of bicycle users in French cities. The survey was conducted among more than 100 people and highlighted the most cycle-friendly cities in France.
The 23rd FUB congress in Rennes is an important opportunity for those involved in cycling mobility to meet, exchange ideas and share good practices in promoting cycling as a sustainable and efficient mode of transport.
What is the program of the FUB?
Throughout these two days of congress, various events on the previously mentioned theme “The bicycle, essential in the after-all-car” will take place, such as workshops, conferences, debates, technical visits, award ceremony ,… Here is an excerpt from the FUB 2023 program for March 9th and 10th.
During the day of Thursday March 09, 2023, at the Couvent des Jacobins - Rennes Métropole Convention Center will be held the opening of the exhibitors' lounge. There will be a visit to the construction site of the departmental cycle lane in La Méziére, official speeches at the opening of the congress by representatives of the FUB, Rayons d'Action, City and Metropolis of Rennes, Department of Ille et Vilaine , Brittany Region, ADEME and State. Then, there will be a joint interview with Clément Beaune, Minister of Transport, with a panel of cyclists, then the first plenary with the theme “From car to bike, thinking about the transition of jobs”. Finally, there will be the award ceremony for the “pro-cycling employers” labels and a cocktail party.
Friday, March 10, 2023 will be the study day "The bicycle, essential in the after all-car". The FUB study day will be an opportunity for more than 600 people from all over France to work on mobility issues during round tables and workshops with a common perspective: to promote the daily use of bicycles.
In the morning, Olivier Schneider, President of the FUB, Nathalie Appéré, Mayor of Rennes will deliver a few words of welcome. Then will take place the second plenary “Adapting our roads to cycling, a priority investment for the climate and health”. Then, simultaneous workshops will take place (an average duration of 1 hour), Workshop 1 – Did you say “intermediate vehicle”? ; Workshop 2 – Bicycle parking: towards the battle for parking lots? ; Workshop 3 – “Tax the car”: rethinking tax tools to promote cycling; Workshop 4 – Outside the agglomerations, no bike?
After the lunch break, time for other workshops: Workshop 5 – The bicycle: the only chain that emancipates us; Workshop 6 – Employers: prepare for the end of the car; Workshop 7 – Cycling for all: freedom, equality and mobility! ; Workshop 8 – Bikes and stations: “I love you neither”.
Then, the third plenary “The bicycle to conquer imaginations”.
Finally, the president of the FUB, Olivier Schneider, will close this congress and a departure for technical visits of the cycling facilities of the city of Rennes by bike will be organised.
