FUB Report 2021
The Federation of Bicycle Users or FUB publishes the report on the barometer of cycling cities every year to present the satisfaction index of users of the bike in France. Bringing together 468 pro-cycling associations, this network aims to identify the daily concerns of cyclists in order to provide solutions. Then, he undertakes to encourage the use of the bicycle as a means of daily transport. For the 2021 edition, the FUB collected more than 275 responses with 000 ranked municipalities. The barometer of cycling cities
The FUB 2021 report was available online from September 14 to November 30, 2021. It collected 277 responses and ranked 384 municipalities. In fact, only municipalities that obtained answers greater than or equal to 1 were considered. The 625 questions were divided into 50 themes, including: general feeling, security, comfort, community efforts and parking and bicycle services.
The rating that can be assigned by the people interviewed is between 1 and 6 and the overall rating defines the category of each city: A+ for excellent, A for very favorable, B for favorable, C for rather favorable, D for moderately favorable, E for rather unfavourable, F for unfavorable and G for very unfavourable.
The results of the 2021 cycling city barometer
This campaign organized by FUB was supported by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the bank and insurance LCL and Vélogik. It had record participation throughout France and it came to an indisputable conclusion: 2021 was the year of the bike.
In the spring of 2020, cycling was already starting to gain momentum due to the pandemic and the successive phases of confinement. And this cycling transition continued in 2021, with the daily practice which has been maintained and the commitment of the pro-cycling movement which makes it possible to develop initiatives.
Thus, some concerns had arisen because of the craze. And users did not hesitate to express their opinions on the feeling of safety, travel comfort, cycling infrastructure, parking facilities, the use of bicycles in public transport and public policies to promote cycling. .
Thanks to the FUB 2021 report, the technical services of local authorities and political leaders will be better guided in their decision-making and in their action. This will improve the conditions for cycling in France while further motivating cyclists and non-cyclists to use this clean mobility on a daily basis.
